Blue Water
Drama, by Mauro Perazzi, Italy, 2020.
Giulia is a young amateur swimmer who, despite herself, has to qualify for the Olympics. During the day she works in a bar, at night she trains in the pool. She has little time. Her older sister Giuditta, a champion swimmer, has lost her sight after a car accident: Giulia was driving. Giuditta cannot go to the Olympics, Giulia will have to take her place even if her aspirations are different.
Gulia faces a challenge: to participate in the Olympics in place of her sister Judith. To do so, she will have to give up her drawing studies and take up swimming again. Her father dreamed of two swimming champion daughters but Giulia, despite her immense sporting talent, has always wanted to do something else. Giulia will have to give herself up to save her sister: if she manages to qualify, perhaps Giuditta, out of joy, will regain her sight compromised after a car accident caused by Giulia. Daniele, her trainer, will take her to a raging river to train: a river that becomes a disillusioned metaphor of a destiny that drags and overwhelms you.
