French cinema of the 1910s
Short films, France, 1896-1912.
After the success of the pioneers such as the Lumière and Méliès, industrial productions arose in France to satisfy the commercial demand of the public. Again two brothers, the Pathé, together with Gaumont and Film d'Art, were the protagonists of the new cinema business. France, with its directors, its actors and its new and gigantic studios, was the world center of film production in the early 1900s.
