Investigation of Six Pieces of Noisy Life Dispersed in a Sultry Summer

Investigation of Six Pieces of Noisy Life Dispersed in a Sultry Summer

Documentary, by Ilaria Pezone, Italy, 2016.
A documentary shot as "proximity film", intimate filming with a "sensible structural" scheme. The confidential atmosphere originates from the closeness between the author and the characters: a closeness that is necessary to create a communicative intimacy. We can see seven characters to whom we progressively approach to, looking at their role in the quotidian, at their devotion for music (or art) with deeply different results. All is observed through the camera and analyzed during the editing, trying to obtain an abstract theoretical model of possible authentic lives. The close-up is a powerful instrument to investigate these work in progress, passionate portraits.

Each character is a highly interesting part of musical existence: a melancholy clarinetist who wishes to donate and to listen; a music teacher divided in the disillusioned man and the adorer of the incarnation of romantic musician; a close-knit couple of professionals (pianist-organist) who sublimates the existence in a limpid, disembodied love for art; a conductor veiled by his merciless pragmatism; an eclectic archaeologist-pianist who needs perfection; a composer who cannot commit himself.
